March against public sector cuts, Edinburgh, October 23rd

18 Oct
Coins on a weighing scale above a whole pile of more coins

If only library budgets were this generous!

Just in case you didn’t know, Noisy Librarians think that librarians from all sectors are special. We are professional, highly trained specialists who shouldn’t be replaced by volunteers. You have perhaps already been affected by public spending cuts through the years, and particularly in recent months, and have something to say about it with specific reference to librarians in schools, charities, health, universities, colleges, business and legal services.

The STUC There is a Better Way campaign offers a chance for all of those concerned about the threat to our public services to demonstrate our opposition to government cuts. The march and rally on Saturday 23rd October offers you a chance to shout out loud about your opposition to cuts in general, and also a chance to meet up informally with fellow librarians.

If you are a librarian in Scotland, and wish to attend / meet up before the march and rally, email clareleethompson@gmail.com for details. If you are in Glasgow, why not come along to our banner-making session on Thursday 21st October at 5pm. We will be at the Unison Glasgow Branch.

For more details about the campaign, check out the website www.thereisabetterway.org.

Hi Noisy Librarians, could you add an RSS feed to you site please? It’s so much easier to keep up-to-date with latest posts.

    Ta.

Hi there, I’m new to WordPress, so I am not immediately sure how to do that but I will do my best to figure it out! I thought WP automatically generating an RSS feed, so thanks for bringing it to our attention. 🙂

Hi, try entering this into your RSS reader: http:// noisylibrarians.wordpress.com/feed

It seems that some themes obscure the link to the feed. When I get near the Internet again on a proper computer (I am doing all this from my phone) I will try to add an obvious link in the sidebar, but the above address seemed to work from here. Hope this helps! 🙂
